Mr. Lilan is Senior Partner and the Managing Partner of the Firm. He is a Certified Company Secretary {CPS (K)} and also heads the company secretarial division.

Mr. Lilan handles civil litigation, commercial litigation,Corporate law, Banking, Conveyancing and insurance as well as Probate and Administration (Succession causes and Administration of Estates). He has handled cases in allclasses of courts and has had the opportunity to participate at precedent setting litigation at the Court of Appeal. He also has keen interest in Environmental and Constitutional Law.

Mr. Lilan was admitted as an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (ACIArb) (London) in December 2003 and has since then taken part in several arbitration proceedings. He is well versed with legal aspects of Public Procurement legislation and has represented various clients at the Public Procurement Complaints,Appeals and Review Board.

Mr Lilan chairs the boards of Meteitei Secondary School and Tinderet Secondary School. He is also a board member of St. Mary’s Tachasis Girls School and has previously had the honour of serving in the National Executive Committee of the Kenya Scouts Association. Further, he is the chairman of Crossroad Prison and Rehabilitation Ministry. He is a member of the Governing Council of the Africa Theological Seminary. He is the Vice Chair of East Africa Environmental Network and Former Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (K.I.P.I).

Philemon Koech graduated from the University of Nairobi with Bachelor of Laws, 2nd Class Honours degree in 1993 and subsequently attained a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law in 1995. He has over 20 years experience in practice.

Mr. Koech, a member of the international Criminal Court (ICC) bar Association is a Senior Partner in charge of Litigation & Commercial Law with a bias for investment Law. Over the years, he has participated in the negotiation and preparation of Joint Venture agreements between Foreign Investors and Kenyan entrepreneurs in the real estate sector. He also attended highly intensive and interactive courses on drafting contracts and Negotiations.

In addition, he has participated in the negotiation and settlement of an investment contract between a foreign investor and the Government of Central Equatorial in Southern Sudan. Also, he has overseen the implementation and completion of joint venture agreements, ensuring amicable settlement of any disputes arising.

Mr. Koech is a seasoned Litigator, having gained experience in Criminal practice and procedure as well as Civil and Commercial Litigation. Mr. Koech has vast Civil and Criminal Litigation experience and has had the opportunity to participate in cases leading to setting of precedents in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. He handles Commercial, Litigation, Banking and insurance Law, Corporate Law, Labour Law, Probate and Administration matters and has also represented clients in various Arbitral Tribunals. He has participated as a consultant in the review and re-drafting of a statute governing a public corporation.

He served his pupillage with the firm of Birech and Company Advocates in Eldoret and thereafter joined the then firm of Mitei & Company Advocates. In 1997, he teamed up with Mr. Paul Lilan to form the Firm of Lilan, Koech & Company Advocates where he was the Partner in Charge of Finance.Mr. Koech gained experience in Claims settlement in personal injury claims including litigation in various courts and various facets of insurance laws, Commercial Arbitration and Banking law.

The Firm was later on, in the year 2000, dissolved to form the Firm of Kipkenda, Lilan & Company Advocates. In the year 2011, the Firm was dissolved to pave way for the current firm of Lilan & Koech Associates.

Mr. Festus Terer is a graduate from Moi University. He graduated in the year 2011 with a Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B), Second Class Honours, Upper Division. He later joined the Kenya School of Law where he attained his Post Graduate Diploma in Law in 2012 and joined the firm of Lilan & Koech Associates in 2013 for his Pupillage.

He was admitted to the Bar as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya on 16th May 2014. He is currently an Associate Partner and head of Department in the Litigation Division. He is currently pursuing his Masters Degree in intellectual Property Law (LL.M) at the University of Nairobi.

He has experience in the following areas of law; Intellectual Property (Patent and Trademark registration), Litigation (Civil, Criminal, Commercial and Intellectual Property), and Incorporation of Companies (Both Local & Foreign), Probate and Administration and Conveyancing, Patent Law, Trademark Law, Copyright Law, Cyber space Law and Telecommunications Law. In Patent & trademarks Law, he has acquired sufficient knowledge in patent drafting, Patent Application (locally,regionally and internationally).In Copyright Law, he has acquired technical skills on copyright registration and dealing with infringements of IP rights.

Dr Henry Kibet Mutai is a legal consultant and adjunct lecturer at the Riara University School of Law.

He is also a Lecturer at Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Prior to that he served as Managing Director of the Kenya Industrial Property Institute (KIPI) for three years, and as a Senior Lecturer at the Moi University School of Law. He has also served on the boards of the Kenya Copyright Board and the Anti-Counterfeit Agency.

He consults in the areas of international trade, regional integration, multilateral trade, WTO Legal Regime and intellectual property. He also served on the panel of experts advising the Government of Kenya on the Rome Statute and ICC cases. He is a scholar who has published widely both in domestic and international academic arena.
